Supporters’ bright effort for Tulips

Supporters of Spalding United have clubbed together to net money towards new floodlights.

The Tulips Supporters’ Club started the fundraising drive as members wanted to thank the owners for the recent investment in the club which has seen it challenging for promotion to the National League North/South this season.

It also includes a new all-weather surface being installed at the Sir Halley Stewart ground though the floodlights still need work.

Supporters’ club chair Paul Parkin recently presented a cheque for £1,500 to Harley Killingsworth, a director at Spalding United.

“The lights had been up for around 45 years and had become inadequate and certainly would not meet ground grading requirements, partial funding was awarded but the remainder needed to be found,” Paul said. “Not only the senior team but the new women’s team, U18s and the wider community will benefit from the new LED lights.

“The committee felt it was a good time to support the club and say a big thank you to our generous chairman by setting up the go fund me page.

“The TSC would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated.”
