Spalding and District University of the Third Age (U3A) recently held its AGM where several long-standing committee members stood down after many years of service.
Among those retiring was Rosemary McClements, who has held the role of chair for a total of five years.
Almost a quarter of Spalding U3A’s membership met up at Surfleet Village Hall for the AGM which was preceded by a cream tea, to confirm the new committee which now has a new chair with Bruce Alexander (pictured) taking the helm.
Bruce has been a member of the u3a for several years and has in the past served in senior roles including as president of South Holland Rotary and also as chairman of South Holland Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is well known in the community.
A spokesman for the Spalding U3A said: “Bruce now heads up a committee of 11 members who are keen to work together to provide support for our interest groups and activities which aid in the wellbeing of those who are no longer in full time employment.
“Spalding and District U3A has over 40 interest groups covering a diverse range of activities for both the active and the passive, all run by the members, for the members.
“In addition, we have monthly meetings on the first Thursday of the month at Surfleet Village Hall where, as well as tea and a natter, we have a guest speaker providing a talk on a wide variety of topics.
“If you are interested in joining our us for our monthly meetings and one or more of our friendly groups, check out our website at www.spalding.u3asite.uk”
