Leaders take their frustration out on Holbeach

Eastern Counties League Division One North leaders took their frustration out on Holbeach United on Saturday.
The runaway leaders had lost their unbeaten record in midweek but responded with a five-goal blast at Carter’s Park, despite the home ranks being boosted by the sight of Luke Nicholson being back in stripes on a joint-registration from Wisbech Town.
The Tigers were powerless to halt the Essex team’s charge and were 3-0 down inside 26 minutes.
Two more goals midway through the second half completed the rout as Holbeach fell to their second 5-0 home defeat of the campaign.
A much better defensive display at Harrowby United in Tuesday’s Lincolnshire County FA Senior Trophy first round tie saw the Tigers lock out their higher level opponents.
However, they were unable to break the deadlock and went out 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out after a 0-0 draw in front of 50 spectators.
