A permanent canopy over Hall Place, floating piers and new pedestrian river bridges are among the proposals for how to spend £20m over ten years.
The Spalding Town Board has unveiled its ‘Vision For Spalding’ which is open to public consultation until October 28.
It includes a host of proposals.
‘A lightweight canopy that fits well with the historic surroundings’ of Hall Place is among the ideas to improve Spalding Market.
The board also says it could look to take on vacant buildings in and around Market Place for things like a street food hall, community hubs or space for artists or crafters.

An arch announcing Bridge Street is among the ideas to improve the area around High Bridge along with making it ‘better for pedestrians’.
A new footbridge is planned for in front of Ayscoughfee and next to it a new floating pier on the town side.
There are also plans for tiered seating there on the town side, facing the historic building.
Another bridge and pier is proposed further north towards the entrance of the currently being redevloped Castle Sports Centre.
A new shelter for those waiting for the Spalding Water Taxi is also proposed.
‘Heritage Court, a shared public space’ is planned between Spalding Gentlemen’s Society and the Methodist Church ‘celebrating these historic buildings’.
There’s also a renewed pledge to ‘animate to deter anti-social behaviour’ and create artworks, potentially with lighting, in dingy spots.
Proposals for more signage, wider footpaths and new foliage are also included.

“A year-round events calendar, focused on food and entertainment, and created with local groups, will keep the area vibrant, while nearby empty buildings could be updated and changed for new businesses that meet community needs,” the document states.
There are also proposals to improve facilities to allow more outdoor activities.
The board say its consultation revealed the number one priority was tackling anti-social behaviour and it’s vowed to continue to look at its ‘Hot Spot Policing’ policy and improving spaces to ‘encourage people to feel they have ownership and responsibility for an area’.
