More roadworks for town motorists

Drivers in Spalding face another two months of road closures and traffic lights as gas pipes are replaced.

Work is drawing to a close around the Halmergate area, as schools return, but contractor Cadent will start working across town.

A major project to replace 1,000m of gas pipes in the Pinchbeck Road area will start on Monday (8) and last around eight weeks.

“These works are part of a major £1.1bn investment in our Eastern Network by Cadent which is vital in ensuring that we keep gas flowing to homes in Lincolnshire and beyond for generations to come,” said Richard Sansom, Network Director for Cadent in the East Midlands.

“With gas pipes being decades old, it is essential that we replace them to futureproof our network and minimise the amount of repair work that we have to do in the area over the coming years.

“You will be notified if you gas supply will need to be interrupted during our works, however if required, this will only be for a short period of time.”

The first phase of work, starting Monday, will see Park Road close and four-way lights on Pinchbeck Road at the junction of West Elloe Avenue.

Phase two starts on September 22 and will see one way closure, southbound, between Castlefields and West Elloe Avenue.

The third phase starts on September 29 and will see four way signals on West Ellow Avenue, at the junction oof Greenrigg Gardens and Banbury Close.

Finally, work starts pm October 6 and will include three-way signals at the West Elloe Avenue junction with Ladywood Road, with road closures outside 41 Ladywood Road and 61 West Elloe Avenue.

  • The county council is due to close Pennygate from October 20 to November 5.
