Spalding Rugby Club’s annual golf day at Spalding Golf Club was highly successful with 66 golfers taking part in the pairs betterball competition
On a glorious day with the course looking and playing at its best, it inspired some excellent scores.
Two pairs initially topped the leader board with 50 points but the winners of the Brian Saville Cup, due to a better back-nine score, were Phil Ingleby and Jack Patrick, just edging out Andrew Riddington and Jane Thompson.
Two pairs also battled it out for third place on 49 points, with Stephen Carter and Jamie Biggadike better back-nine score putting them ahead of Lee Pipe and Kath Yates.
A further eight pairs had a score of 45 points or better.
A splendid array of home-baked cakes and refreshments was enjoyed at the Half Way House thanks to Susie Jullien, Tina Burleton, Kate Pease and other volunteers who helped deliver a well organised and enjoyable afternoon.
The day was topped off with a two-course meal in the golf clubhouse.
Before the golfers teed off, they took part in the President’s Putting Competition and again it was a close call with James- Hale Smith edging out Tom Henley for a bottle of Moët Champagne.
The day was sponsored by Emerald Homes, with individual holes sponsored by local businesses. Spalding Rugby Club thanked all the sponsors for their support.
