Crowland’s new clubhouse has been officially opened

The official opening of a new clubhouse and improved facilities at Crowland Town Bowls Club was realised at the start of the 2025 bowling season.

Peter Haselgrove, the club chairman, related the history of the project which commenced in 2023, expressing thanks to all those who had worked hard on the project leading to the recent celebration.

The cutting of the ribbon to declare the new facility open was performed by Crowland parish and South Holland district councillor, Bryan Alcock.

He praised the club for all they had achieved in obtaining the funding and working hard to erect the new clubhouse and creating such a welcoming space for players and visitors.

He wished the club many years of successful competitive bowling.

The opening ceremony was followed by a glass of fizz and refreshments before a game of bowls was enjoyed by some of the club members.

The funding for the project had been made possible by the UKSPF GRASSroots fund which awarded the club a grant of £20,000 in July 2024.

The club has over 50 members with eight teams and plays bowls in both the Spalding and Peterborough leagues as well as providing social bowling.

The club is always keen to welcome new members and non-members are welcome on a Tuesday evening at 6pm to just have a go at playing bowls or take part in a game of bowls.

More information about the club can be found on their website, search Crowland Town Bowling Club.
