Cupcakes all round as Norman hits her ton

Debs Norman celebrated her 100th Parkrun at Crowland on Saturday. The Halmer Harriers runner finished 44th of the 79 runners in a time of 31 minutes 32 seconds and marked her centenary with cupcakes all round.

She was one of five of the Spalding-based club’s members in action at the Snowden Field event, which attracted ‘tourists’ from Darlington, Dorset, Leeds and Oxford, among 27 first-timers at the venue.
First home for the Harriers was Richard Williams, who came 12th in 23:12. Other Harriers were Simon Wildridge, 17th 25:16, Rebecca Pearce, 39th 30:43, and Adam Caress, 74th 52:21.
Halmer Harriers take over the running of the event for the day on April 5, with the event’s sixth anniversary to be celebrated on April 26.
Three club members made the long journey north to participate in the Queen’s Parkrun in Glasgow, finishing within just over a minute of each other in the 264-strong field. Katherine Baxter was 244th, 42:45, Jayne Pell 245th 43:12 and Kathryn Chapman 249th 43:50.
Slightly nearer to home at the Peterborough Ferry Meadows event, Steve Lane was 97th of 577 runners in 23:57.
