County awarded £25,000 to deliver pilot for Bikeability Plus scheme

Lincolnshire has been chosen as a pilot area for the Department for Transport’s Bikeability Plus scheme.

Lincolnshire County Council has been awarded £25,000 to deliver a series of modules designed to engage children and families with the opportunities, skills, support and guidance to make cycling part of their everyday lives.

Before June 2015, the council will have delivered six modules to selected schools and communities across the county, including sessions on bike maintenance and encouraging people to try cycling.

Coun Richard Davies, executive councillor for highways and transportation, said: “Being part of this pilot shows the progressive commitment Lincolnshire County Council has shown to the development of Bikeability, and puts us at the forefront of future developments in cycle training.”

A Bikeability Fun Time event will take place at Monkshouse Playing Field in Spalding, in partnership with Spalding Velo Prix, on Saturday, May 2.
