Primary school is on the right road

A South Holland primary school has made improvements, but more are necessary according to the latest Ofsted monitoring report.

Gedney Hill Church of England VC Primary was inspected by Ofsted in February last year and was told it ‘requires improvement.’
A recent monitoring visit report has been published and says improvements have been made.
There have been a raft of changes in personnel since the 2023 visit with a new chair of governors and teaching staff.
“You have ensured that staff have consistently high expectations of all pupils,” says the report.
“Pupils now produce work of a high standard across the curriculum. They take pride in their learning, try their best and complete work that is presented neatly.
“Furthermore, you have implemented a new assessment system in all the foundation subjects,” it adds.
A monitoring letter to executive headteacher Alison Buddle said the school had made progress but some aspects still required further improvement.
“Leaders have an accurate understanding of the school’s progress and what still needs to be developed,” it says.
The visit was to monitor progress and to highlight improvements.
“The school has suitable plans in place to bring about further improvements swiftly. Clear expectations, effective delegation and streamlined systems have transformed governance since the last inspection,” the inspector said.
At the time of the original visit in 2023, the school had 70 children aged from four to 11-years-old.
The inspection team noted that children were ‘safe at this happy inclusive school.’
“The school is benefiting from the support of the local authority. Leaders have acted on the evaluations and recommendations made by the local authority to improve the quality of teaching, learning and assessment,” the monitoring report says.
