Gibbons scores four to complete comeback

Spalding emerged triumphant in a tight game at Hertford.

Both defences were on top in the first quarter, which finished 0-0, with neither side properly testing the goalkeepers. Chris Barham was audibly frustrated with his wayward shots.
In the second quarter it was Hertford who found their range to go 2-0 up.
Phil James got Spalding off the mark with a goal in the last few moments of the quarter and the third quarter saw Spalding gain in confidence with another goal from James. Adam Gibbons made it 3-2 to the visitors but, despite great goalkeeping from Mat Zajac, Hertford made it all square going into the final stage.
It was 5-5 with three minutes to go after Gibbons added two more to his tally. A fourth goal from Gibbons put Spalding ahead and, with Hertford pushing for an equaliser, Nathan Henfrey scored to give Spalding a 7-5 lead in the last few seconds.
The game saw a debut for Ellie Pettitt, who played well in her first competitive game for the club. Spalding travel to Cambridge in early November for their last game of the season.
