Bungalows plan for ‘ski slope’

The long-running planning saga of a Moulton Chapel development once branded a ski slope was back before planners last week.

This time though Allison Homes plans for 86 homes north of Roman Road were praised by South Holland District Council’s Planning Committee.
It approved the latest application which includes building bungalows rather than two-storey homes on one side of the application to avoid over-looking of existing properties.
It had previously received criticism after building part of the site higher than it should have been including an entrance called a ‘ski slope’.
Coun Anthony Casson said of the latest application: “It’s very unusual for a company to come back with an application that’s better than the first one they put in.
“Thanks go to the developer for putting these bungalows in as it saves overlooking of neighbouring properties.”
Coun Andrew Woolf said the site had ‘a checkered past’ but it was ‘a positive step’ while Coun James Avery added: “It’s come a long way.
“My only disappointment is a future bid by Moulton Chapel for the Winter Olympics won’t now happen.”
