A proposed new crossing in Spalding town centre, a bus clearway in Little London and a 30mph limit through Tongue End have all been passed.
The measures came before Lincolnshire County Council’s Planning Committee on Monday (September 2).
The meeting was told that the proposed crossing at Bridge Street, which would be linked to the traffic signals around High Bridge was subject to a bid for funding of the project.
It will cross over the road near the former Halifax bank.
The bus clearway is to stop vehicles parking at the bus stop on Little London, meaning buses can’t access the kerb that’s raised there to help those with mobility problems.
It came before the committee after one objection had been received arguing that the people parking there were doing so to reach elderly residents despite there being off-road parking across the road.
The committee voted to install the clearway.
It also unanimously voted to lower the speed restriction through Tongue End from 60mph to 30mph.
The meeting was told that the hamlet didn’t meet the ‘development density’ criteria for such a restriction, but was within ’20 per cent’ of that figure so was considered a borderline case.
The committee voted for the officer’s recommendation of a 30mph limit even though officers had argued they could have installed a 40mph instead.
