More than 80 take to the course in contest

More than 80 members of Tydd St Giles Golf Club took part in the Bob Johns Classic.

The competition, in support of Cancer Research UK, was a stableford team event.
Bob Johns’ family member John Leak, who also took part in the competition, thanked all for taking part and for their generosity, raising £655 for the charity. Funds came from members’ entry fees and the raffle.
The winning team, Derek Kneebone, Graeme Barritte, Martin Wells and Mick McCreery, came in with score of 139.
The team in second place was Ken Walker, John Leak, Richard Martin and Del Marsh, who got 136 points.

Seniors’ stableford: Division 1 – 1st (ocb) Paul Gurney 36 points, 2nd Tom Ainsley 36 points, 3rd Wayne Jupp 34 points. Division 2 – 1st Paul Jackson 40 points, 2nd (ocb) Steve Skoulding 39 points, 3rd Hank Pooley 39 points. Division 3 – 1st Geoff Chappell 41 points, 2nd Brian Levey 38 points, 3rd (ocb) Phil Whitehead 37 points.
