Royal Mail Cart provide an awesome foursome

Steve Hill, Harry Mycock, Dominic McVittie and Martin Spencer from Royal Mail Cart BC successfully defended their fours title at the county championships at Blackstones, in Stamford.

Fresh from winning the British Isles fours title last month, in the semi-final they won a close encounter against Richard Vinter, David Gedney, David Bristow and Matt Whyers from Burton House (13-9) but followed up with an impressive 25-3 win in the final against Dave Cullum, Phil Willerton, Nigel Cordy and Alan Dent Jnr from Cleethorpes.
Spencer won his second county title of the day when he lifted the county two-bowl singles trophy for the first time. In the semi-final, he beat Trevor Cope, from Sleaford Town, 16-4 and then Cleethorpes’ Dent Jnr 15-5 in the final.
Ruby Hill and Chelsea Spencer of Royal Mail Cart partnered with Caroline Cullum and Amy Pharaoh from Cleethorpes and lifted the ladies county fours title. In the final, they had an emphatic 27-7 win against a rink skipped by Tina Reeson from Blossom Way. A second title of the day quickly followed for Hill when she won the ladies u25 singles title by beating Keira Thurston, from Whaplode Drove, 21-11 in the final.
Jack Wells retained the u18 singles title as he beat Finlay Campbell, from Sleaford Town, 21-14 in the final.
There was further success for Mycock and McVittie as they lifted the county pairs title for the first time. In the semi-final, they beat Martin Pulling and Mathew Orrey, from Grantham, 25-9 and then Burton House’s David Bristow and Wayne Phoenix 22-6 in the final.
The last final of the weekend saw Aidan Brickles from Royal Mail Cart join forces with Campbell from Sleaford Town against Owen Aspinall from Blackstones and Mycock in the u25 pairs.
Brickles and Campbell won a close final 19-16.
All the men’s and ladies qualifiers will represent Lincolnshire at the National Championships at Leamington Spa next month.
