Whaplode WI’s ‘yarn bomb’

Whaplode WI have been knitting to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the launch of the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

The charity had appealed for help make a ‘yarn bomb’ to help it celebrate three decades of helping save lives in the counties.
Whaplode WI took up the call, knitting mini air ambulances and placing them around Whaplode and Weston.
They include a bar code you can scan in and report to the air ambulance.
Julie Hicks, of Whaplode WI, said: “Hopefully they will be in-situ until the first week of September then Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance will produce a report on all the sightings around the counties.
“The Co-op have two helicopters as the first one flew off to other stores, garages and riding stables in order to have photographs took wherever they went and sent to the Co-op’s head office.
“It’s been great fun.”
