Sutton Bridge residents are being urged to donate items for an arts project as part of improvements to the riverside.
The Perch Here project, part of the Sutton Bridge Place Making Scheme, is hosting an event at Sutton Bridge village green this Saturday (June 8) from 10am to 3pm.
There will be a host of activities to try out, details of plans to brighten up the riverside and a chance to get involved with a proposed riverside artwork.
Transported Arts is working with Lincolnshire County Council on Perch Here.
As part of it they want to create a ‘treasure chest’ which will include items contributed by residents to be cast in resin and displayed within a wooden perch.
“We’re inviting members of the community to share their cherished items with us to be immortalised in this piece,” says Nick Jones, director of Transported.
“Whether it’s a trinket passed down through generations or a memento of significance, we encourage residents to participate in this initiative and contribute to the cultural tapestry of Sutton Bridge.
“Submit something you consider important but would be willing to part with, for us to incorporate into a ‘treasure chest’ feature.”
Residents interested in donating a ‘treasure item’ are encouraged to email transported
@lincoln.ac.uk or take them along to the village green on the day.
Ideally, the items should be small, non-perishable objects that residents are willing to donate.
The finished piece will be unveiled on Saturday, July 6, starting at 1pm.
Coun Colin Davie, executive councillor for economy at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “Sutton Bridge is the gateway to Lincolnshire, and has great appeal as a place to live and visit.
“At the county council, we’re keen to encourage both local people and visitors to explore the area, and celebrate its history.
“It’s great to see this collaborative vision being brought to life in a project that celebrates Sutton Bridge’s unique characteristics.”
