Winner proves elusive

A mystery runner took the honours at Saturday’s Snowden Field Parkrun in Crowland.

All runners are supposed to have pre-registered and collect a timing tag when they finish the 5K race but the most recent winner proved not only elusive for the other 66 runners but also for the timekeepers and record keepers.
As it was, Matthew Earth was the first known runner to complete the race, finishing in a personal best time of 20 minutes and nine seconds.
That was two seconds ahead of the first club runner, Stilton Striders’ James Sutton.
Just one Halmer Harrier completed the race, with Rebecca Pearce finishing 35th overall, eighth woman, in 32:53.
Elsewhere, Kathryn Chapman and Jayne Pell travelled west to compete in the Leicester Victoria Parkrun. Chapman was 337th, in 34:17, and Pell 359, in 35:28 of the 412 runners.
Janet Strickland came 368th of 625 finishers in the Ferry Meadows Parkrun in Peterborough in 30:27, and Adam Caress was in impressive form, completing the Wynard Woodland Parkrun in third place.
He took 20:09 to complete the County Durham course.
The Snowden Field Parkrun consists of four laps of the playing field in Thorney Road, Crowland, and is free to enter.
It is all on grass and starts and finishes at the pavilion.
All Parkruns start on Saturdays at 9am and are open to anyone – runners, joggers and walkers – and dogs are welcome (on short leads) as well as wheelchairs and buggies.
