New consultation on power lines

A new consultation has been launched for more power lines to go through South Holland, but this time underground.

National Grid’s consultation on how the cables from Scotland will go through Lincolnshire to Walpole in Norfolk will run until Monday, June 17.
It is separate from the consultation to build overhead power lines in the district.
This week homes in the area close to the proposals were sent consultation documents.
The proposed route for the underground cables skirts the north of Moulton Seas End and Gosberton Clough before going between Holbeach and Fleet.
It could then go near to the south of Long Sutton and west of Sutton Bridge.
The consultation for this is at www.nationalgrid.com/egl3andegl4
No Pylons Lincolnshire, the campaign group set up to oppose the overground pylons, says it will oppose the underground ones too.
Chairman Andrew Roberts said: “Our message is clear and simple – keep all infrastructure out at sea for as long as possible, do not needlessly wreck our landscape and do not waste our fertile food-growing land.”
No Pylons Lincolnshire also stated they’d asked National Grid for a summery of all the energy projects being proposed for Lincolnshire, including solar farms.
It has published its ‘Beyond 2030’ strategy this week (see page one), but that does not include solar farms.”
l Another separate energy cable project consultation is reaching its second stage.
The Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind Farm, the energy from which is proposed to enter The National Grid at the existing overhead cables at Weston Marsh via a substation a Surfleet, is starting another consultation today (Thursday, May 2).
It will run until Thursday, June 13.
The decision will be made by central government.
Documents are on display at Pinchbeck Community Hub and Library during its usual opening hours of Tuesday and Thursday 10am to 1pm, Wednesday 10am to 4pm (closed from 1pm to 2pm.)
Or they’re online at www.outerdowsing.com
l No Pylons Lincolnshire is on the lookout for more volunteers.
Volunteers who want to help the campaign with leaflet distribution and by acting as no pylons ambassadors can contact Nicola at no
