Plan to extend new Spalding off-licence

Planning permission is being sought to extend a building set to become an off-licence.

In January, Hemen Ahmad was granted a premises licence for a former sub-Post Office and dry cleaning shop in Bourne Road, Spalding.
He has now applied for planning consent for an extension at the rear.

The site is next to a proposed Spar development, zebra crossing and junctions with Carrington Road and Hawthorn Bank.
Ward district councillor Angela Newton – who led objections to the granting of the alcohol licence – has objected to the planning application on highways safety grounds.

Spalding and District Civic Society planning officer John Charlesworth hopes South Holland District Council will attach a condition to any approval to “preclude the blanking out of the shop window by vinyl or other obscuring material”.
