Town charity is closing for good

A Holbeach charity at the heart of the community made a shock announcement that it is closing the town centre shop later this year.

Chosen Holbeach has been part of the town for many years and even had two shops trading at one point.
By the end of January this year the charity had already donated £12,900 to local good causes ranging from Holbeach Town Band to the Here4U group and the community centre.
The charity’s High Street
shop is set to close at the end of June, while the Fleet Street shop closed before Christmas.
At the time, the charity said it was ‘with a heavy heart and after much soul searching’ it wasn’t re-opening the shop after Christmas.
Its Facebook page made the announcement this week and many people have commented on how much the shop will be missed.
“What a shame, your shops were good charity shops and your volunteers were always cheerful and ready to help. Many thanks for your donations to our H4U group. You and your volunteers will be greatly missed,” said Susan White.
“Sorry to hear that you are closing down, high street won’t be the same without you, and you have helped so many people and groups over the time you have been open, best wishes to you all,” said Sandra Carter.
The charity has raised tens of thousands of pounds since it started and it has all been donated to charities in and around Holbeach.
Volunteers at the charity shop are nominating the final recipients of help before it closes. The shop will stop taking donations at the end of February.
“This is sad news. You were the first to support Inspire-Lincs when we opened. You have done an amazing job,” said Alison Willetts on the Chosen Facebook page.
In December, Mary Cooper, one of those behind the charity did a huge Christmas shop to help the local food banks.
