LETTER: I’m looking forward to no sleep

Fortunately The Voice has informed residents about the 100 plus trains due to be diverted on Saturday.

Unfortunately Network Rail has again, as with every train increase on the Spalding line last year, not informed residents next to the line.

The increase due will close the level crossings for over five hours cutting one side of Spalding off from the other.

The increase will not just be 9am to 5pm but start early morning and run through the night.

Due to the whistle blowing, track noise and vibration to the house I look forward to a night of no sleep.

Yes, we live next to a railway. Yes, the rail line was here before the housing estate was built. But this was a line which operated Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm.

Since December 17 freight trains now run through the night.

You might wish to ask people whose property is adjacent to the Spalding track to write in saying how many hours’ sleep they now get at night without being woken by the 11.30pm,
3.30am and 5.15am to mention a few of the regular time slots.
