Halifax branch to close in April

Another town centre building will be closing its doors to customers in the new year.

Bank bosses have said the Halifax will be closing for good on April 18.
The Bank of Scotland, Halifax and Lloyds will be closing another 45 branches in 2024.
All part of the Lloyds Banking Group, the banks currently have a combined 1,191 branches left in operation.
The announcement of further closures came last week when the Bridge Street branch of the Halifax was named among the 22 new locations.
There will also be a further 19 Lloyds and four in the Bank of Scotland business closing next year. The group as a whole is shutting 276 sites this year and next.
The branch in Stamford High Street is also due to close.
“The way customers choose to bank with us has changed rapidly in recent years, and we now offer a wide range of options for their everyday banking needs,” said a spokesman.
“This includes our mobile app, online and over the phone. Customers can also bank with us through the Post Office, a banking hub or speaking to a community banker. All colleagues will be offered other roles.”
With national closures of Wilkos, Dorothy Perkins and the Marks & Spencer site, town centres across the country have been hit by the retail downturn.
Spalding also lost Coneys, formerly Hills, department store earlier this year.
