LETTERS – A dog walk through Spalding

I took my dog on his regular walk through Spalding town centre and I was shocked to see drug dealing taking place.
I don’t know what white substance they were passing between each other in a little bag but I’m pretty sure it was not sugar.
This is becoming a real issue for our town centre.
So far the police have been inactive in dealing with anti-social behaviour in the town centre.
People are able to stand around drinking and nothing seems to be done about it.
The town centre is now unfit to go down because people are scared to go there, particularly women.
I wouldn’t take my grandchildren down there.
My wife has told me she would never walk there on her own.
Somebody will be killed or raped in the town centre unless the authorities get a grip.
We moved here 18 years ago and it was a lovely town, now it’s going to rack and ruin.
It’s not unreasonable to expect the police to take matters seriously.
I’ve contacted them about other issues and they don’t want to know.
You need a police presence in the town. I know they are short staffed but why are we paying council tax for a service that’s not there. It’s disgusting.
We need an open meeting at the town hall where we can raise these town centre issues to the authorities who are not paying attention.
