Benton in pole place

There were some excellent weights recorded at Sunday’s Tydd Gote Angling Club match at Main Road, Tydd Gote.

With a frost and a keen northeasterly welcoming the anglers, expectations were not high, but in-form Ian Benton, on peg 12, made no mistake with 13lb 12oz. His pole and pinkie-caught net of roach, rudd and perch proved to be a winning one.
Chasing him hard was Matt Heaps, on peg seven with 11lb 13oz of waggler and pinkie-tempted roach and rudd.
Not far behind was Sammy McSpadden, who could not find his usual tinca but still managed to winkle out 9lb 8oz of prime roach on the pole and pinkie from peg 10.
On peg 11, Barrie Stacey took 8lb 10oz of roach, also on pole and pinkie.
