Brown bins next for service

Everyone on the waiting list for ‘brown bins’ will get one when this week’s roll out of new waste collection days has bedded down, a councillor has claimed.

Coun Jack Tyrrell also told South Holland District Council the scheme will be expanded again.
The meeting of the council was told that no new brown bins for garden waste collection had been issued for over a year and that the waiting list for them was frozen in July last year.
“We’re waiting on this last piece of work to be done on the rolling out of the new routes and once it’s done, then every person on the waiting list will get their bin at the same time,” the council’s portfolio holder for environmental services said. “As soon as that’s all done we can get people to register again.
“We will be expanding (the service).”
Coun Paul Barnes asked why this couldn’t be communicated to those on the waiting list who had been waiting for over a year, but Coun Tyrrell responded it was due to the authority not having everyone’s email addresses.
