Cigarettes targeted at two stores overnight

police tapeBurglars got away with a haul of cigarettes after breaking into a shop in Donington.

Police were called shortly after 1am this morning (Friday) in response to a report that a burglary was in progress at the Costcutter Store in the High Street.

The offenders forced open the front door of the shop before targeting the tobacco kiosk inside.

The offenders fled in a dark coloured car, possibly an Audi.

The incident followed a burglary at the Tesco Express store in Spalding’s Matmore Gate just after midnight, where the burglars also targeted the cigarette kiosk, but were deterred by an anti-theft smoke device.

It is known whether the two incidents were connected.

Anyone with information should contact Lincolnshire Police by dialling 101 and quoting incident 18 of May 2 for the Donington incident and incident 5 for the Spalding incident.
