Historical insight at museum

Spalding Gentlemen’s Society is holding two fascinating events this month – The Adventures of William Stukeley exhibition from September 12-16 in the Broad Street Museum and Archaeology and Landscape – 18th century prints of Samuel and Nathaniel Buck on September 30 in Broad Street Methodist Church.
William Stukeley was born in Holbeach in 1687.
The museum has 44 drawings and documents, a hand coloured book of his travels and several other artefacts. The exhibition includes some of Stukeley’s rarely displayed original prints featuring views of his homes in Lincolnshire. There will also be background information and a display of several books from the original library.
The event, from 9.30am to 2pm, will take visitors into the fascinating world of two renowned artists, providing a chance to engage with archaeology experts and gain insight into the significance of their prints.
