Young entrepreneurs at Teen Market today

Jewellery, cufflinks and taxidermy are being sold by young people at the Teen Market in Spalding today (Tuesday, August 15).

Alongside the usual stores there’s three young people with their own business.

Paige Goddard.

They’re as young as 13-year-old Paige Goddard who has created her own businesses selling second hand bits and making her own cufflinks and driftwood displays.

“I’ve sold quite a lot of things since starting,” she said. “Now I’m looking to expand and this is a really good chance.”

Naomi Smith (18) began creating jewellery in lockdown and is now running Handmaid By Ni.

I’ve always liked art and design and it’s all come together,” said Naomi who has just left Spalding High School.

She was helped on the stall by dad Tim.

“She’s done really well and been quite successful,” he said. “She’s earned a fair amount of money.”

Chloe Lee aka Miss Quirky-Dermy is a taxidermist and sculpture using needle felt to craft unusual scenes and objects.

She creates the produce herself and is supported on the stall by husband James.

“I always had a curiosity about death,” she said. “I first learned about taxidermy when I was 11 and it’s grown from there.”

Markets manager for the South and East Lincolnshire Local Councils Parntership, Ian Dunn said: “It’s a really interesting thing and amazing what some of the young people are doing.

“It’s a great opportunity for any young entrepreneurs.”

It’s heading to Crowland on Friday August 18 before then going to Boston on Saturday August 19.
