Motorists have been warned that a road will be closed overnight for repairs.
Platt’s Bridge on West Marsh Road, Spalding will be closed overnight between 7pm on Sunday, May 4 and 6am on Monday, May 5 to allow for maintenance work, subject to weather conditions.
A signed, local diversion will be in place.
Light vehicles will be able to access premises on West Marsh Road via West Elloe roundabout, however, West Marsh Road will be closed to through traffic between West Elloe roundabout and Wardentree Lane roundabout.
Width restrictions mean that HGVs will not be able to access premises on West Marsh Road, but local businesses have been advised to make alternative arrangements until the road is reopened.
Richard Waters, principal engineer at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “This work is to replace the bridge’s expansion joints, which allow the bridge to expand and contract as the temperature changes without the surfacing cracking and deteriorating around it.
“This is preventative maintenance to protect the bridge from requiring more frequent work which would increase disruption to the area. Once complete, we hope we won’t need to return for another 15 years.
“Businesses in the area have been notified and I hope that they can make alternative arrangements to minimise any disruption.”
