Sargent’s new car is a flyer

Just a week after being crowned British champion, Donington’s Finn Sargent is celebrating again.
The 21-year-old stock car driver steered his self-built vehicle to seventh place in the Brisca Formula One World Championship semi-final at Mildenhall on Sunday.
The top 10 finishers go through to the world final, meaning Sargent will have the chance to add an even more glittering honour to his haul at Northampton’s Brafield International Raceway on September 9.
Sargent finished seventh in Sunday’s consolation final before repeating that in the main final to earn his place among the sport’s elite.
Sargent’s car sported a brand-new black and white chequered wing at Mildenhall to mark his victory in the national championship a week earlier at the Hednesford Hills raceway.
Sargent had spent the previous 18 months putting together his car and is reaping the benefit of that time with a string of stunning results that have seen a heat win, final win and now two international-class successes.
Sargent’s dad Mark is also a stock car race ace and it was his racing career that inspired his son to take up the sport.
