Jacob and Kevinas win Spalding optician’s Christmas tree competition

A local optician worked alongside schools to launch a “Create a Christmas Tree” competition.

The competition was launched for children in year three and below.
The winner of each category was awarded a chocolate snowman, donated by Thornton’s at Hills Department Store, and a book token.

The winner for Reception/Year 1 was Jacob Wise, and Kevinas Zebrauskas won for Year 2/3.

Proprietor Dr Andy Molsom believes that the competition will help the children.
“The competition has been a fantastic success with over 150 entries.
“Designing a Christmas tree requires good visual skills and co-ordination, which helps vision development in the early years.”

Molsom Optometrists are urging local parents to arrange regular eye exams for their children.

Dr Molsom added: “With no formal school vision screening programme locally, and increasing visual demands required with computerised technology, it has never been more important to make sure our children can see well.
“Early detection of problems will significantly improve a child’s learning ability and can have a life long benefit.”
