New signing on scoresheet as Tulips return to action

A former EFL League One player is Spalding United’s latest signing as they returned to the pitch ahead of the 23/24 season on Monday night.

Wilson Carvalho scored from the spot as the Tulips beat St Ives Town 2-1 in their first pre-season friendly.
The 30-year-old Portuguese winger came through the youth set-ups at Fulham and Stevenage.
He was snapped up on loan by Port Vale but failed to make an appearance for them, before joining Southern League Premier side Corby Town for the 2014/15 season.
He had two spells with Kettering Town in the same division, played with Oxford City in the National League South and featured for Stratford Town in 2018/19.
His performances led to him getting a trial at Accrington Stanley in League One for whom he made 13 appearences in the 2019/20 season.
Since then he’s had spells at Hampton and Richmond, Hendon, Walton Casuals and Westfield.
Another new signing was also on the scoresheet on Monday with forward Dan Sweeney, an arrival from Macclesfield, netting the winner after St Ives of the Southern League Premier Central Division had earlier taken the lead.
The only issue for the Tulips was an injury to Nathan Stainfield who had to be carried off.
Next up for the Tulips is a trip to Melton on Tuesday, July 11.
There’s also planned visits to Kempston Rover (Saturday, July 15), Blackstones (Wednesday, July 19), Stratford Town (July 22) and Kettering Town (July 29).
The club says more friendlies are due to be announced.
Meanwhile the club has also announced its season ticket prices for the season.
Entry to the Sir Halley Stewart for all home games is available for £150 for adults and £75 for concessions.
The normal match day prices will be £10 for adults, £5 for over 65s, £2 for under 16s, while under 11s will be allowed in free.
