Primary school’s university scheme is inspiring pupils

A Holbeach primary school running a scheme to inspire career paths and provide new opportunities had a visit from The Voice.

News editor Nigel Chapman was invited to speak to William Stukeley pupils.

It was part of the school’s weekly Stukeley University scheme.
Every Friday pupils get involved in themed activities and can decide which seminars to attend. Those that attend all six seminar sessions get to “graduate”.
In the first semester, courses include animal science, equine studies, world travel, philosophy and nail art.

The pupils in Nigel’s media studies seminar had prepared questions about the life of a journalist.
He said: “There were some great questions afterwards too, which proved the pupils were thinking about what they had heard. The children were a credit to the school and their parents.”
