There will be a break with tradition this festive season as Long Sutton’s long-running Christmas Market moves under cover.
But tradition will be upheld in other aspects as the market will boast its usual Santa’s grotto, children rides, hot roast chestnuts, craft stall, competitions, raffles and lots of people – although this year they will be protected from the biting wind and rain and snow that sometimes mar the event.
This year’s market is a joint venture between a number of local groups and will be held across three warm and dry venues, offering three themes.
Santa can be found in his spectacular new grotto next to St Mary’s Church.
There will also be children’s rides and other attractions for the younger age group on site.
The Royal British Legion Hall, a three minute walk away, is home to the Civic Society’s Christmas craft and gifts fair with seasonal refreshments available.
The third cracker in the Christmas celebration is The Market House, where local food and drink suppliers will be enticing customers with seasonal goodies celebrating the best of local and regional produce.
Add to that a Christmas Tree, hi-tec twinkly Christmas lights and all the town’s local shops and organisers say it all adds up to the recipe for a great pre-Christmas day out for the whole family.
The event will be held from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, December 13 and admission to the venues is free, with charges to see Santa and for fair rides.
