A Lincolnshire Police officer has been honoured for his hard work and dedication to tackling wildlife crime.
PC Nick Willey has won the WWF-sponsored Wildlife Law Enforcer of the Year Award for his outstanding work and achievements while tackling wildlife crime since joining the force’s wildlife department in 1994.
Nick works tirelessly to raise awareness of wildlife crime in a personal capacity as well as his role with the Lincolnshire constabulary, working with various wildlife groups in the area providing advice and assistance.
He has been one of the driving forces behind a number successful of wildlife crime operations, and he also provides training and supports the force’s network of wildlife officers.
Pc Willey said: “I am honoured to have been awarded The Enforcer of the Year.
“The award not only recognises the work I have done in relation to the fight against wildlife crime but the work of the rest of the team and the support I have received from my force.
“I would like to thank the WWF for highlighting wildlife crime issues and supporting Wildlife Crime Officers in the UK.”
Sarah Goddard, species policy officer at WWF-UK, said: “Over the last ten years Nick has significantly contributed to the way people in Lincolnshire view wildlife crime.
“Nick’s commitment to preventing wildlife crime is admirable and inspiring to the other wildlife officers he works with.
“The Wildlife Enforcer of the year award is a tribute to Nick’s dedication to raising awareness of wildlife crime.
“We hope that Nick continues his passionate work and that it is sufficiently supported along with the work of other wildlife law enforcers in the UK by government and enforcement authorities for the foreseeable future.”
