V COMMUNITY

The Transported arts programme is on the hunt for a photographer to capture our area’s unique allotments during the spring.

Funded by the Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places programme, Transported is a community-focused arts programme specifically aiming to increase the number of people in Boston Borough and South Holland engaging with the arts.

One of the activity for this year’s programme is called Pop Up – great art experiences taking place in unusual spaces, simultaneously reaching new audiences – and Transported has just announced details of the first commission.

Drawing on one of Transported’s overall themes of celebrating the agriculture and horticulture Boston Borough and South Holland have traditionally been famed for, the first commission is looking for a photographer or artist to take up a short residency next month within allotment sites situated across both areas.

The chosen photographer or artist will capture the creativity that happens within the allotments, inspired by the landscape, the planting and patterns of produce, flowers, food – and of course, the people who make it all happen.

The results will be exhibited in a special Pop Up gallery or installation, and an eBook created of the images for posterity.

Following on from direct feedback during the initial consultation, Transported is also asking the photographer/artist to provide a one day, on site training session for people interested in developing their photography skills.

The closing date for artists and photographers to apply for this commission is this Monday at 9am.
