Students raise funds for Holbeach hospital

Students have helped raise money for a local hospital after creating wooden items to sell.

Construction teacher at the University Academy Holbeach, Darren Morris, presented a cheque for £312 to Holbeach Hospital.

“The idea was that students got a chance to experience making joinery items for potential clients, while using the knowledge and skills gained in the three months or so since joining the sixth form,” said Mr Morris. “As a department, we decided to give the donation to Holbeach Hospital. This is due to the generosity of TJ Ward and other joinery workshops who offered a large amount of their timber to help with students’ learning,” he added.

Hospital trustee John Dalton said: “It was nice to see local students are interacting with the hospital and we thank them very much for the donation.”
