There’s a place to celebrate music milestone

It’s 60-years since The Beatles released their debut album and a South Holland record shop is looking to raise money for charity with a special display to mark the occasion.

Uptown Vinyl, which is based at Baytree Garden Centre, has managed to get hold of 60 copies of Please, Please Me which came out on March 22, 1963.

It includes early hits such as Love Me Do, Twist and Shout and I Saw Her Standing There.

Customers can have their picture taken alongside the giant display the shop has put up if they make a donation to MacMillan Cancer Support.

Shop owner Alan Barnsdale, said: “Wednesday March 22 marks the 60th anniversary of the release of the Beatles first studio album Please Please Me and yo mark the event we are going to display a collection of around 60 copies of the vinyl album here in the shop and offer customers the chance to have their photos taken with the display on your own phone or camera.

“All we ask is for a donation to MacMillan Cancer support.

“We will be open from 10am on Sunday, please come along and take this great opportunity to have your own memory of the event.”
