LETTERS – Thanks for Santa support

President Sue Baker and members of South Holland Rotary would like to put on record our sincere thanks to the generous people of Spalding who contributed to our Christmas Sleigh Collection in December.

Santa had a wonderful reception on his travels and people were very generous on our static collections too.

This year we were able to have more collectors on our evening routes so we could knock on doors again as we have been doing for the last 30 years.

We are delighted with the resulting collection of just over £10,000 and with much of that we will be able to support many local community groups and good causes.

We say a huge thank you to everyone who helped us reach that sum and we especially thank those members of other local groups who came out to enjoy collecting with Santa in our ever-growing town.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing funds with local deserving causes in South Holland.

We have already supported many charities such as a refuge for the victims of domestic abuse, hospices and foodbanks and some international disaster relief funds. We are always keen to hear of local good causes in need of our help.

We wish to thank Lidl on Holbeach Road for allowing our static collections at their store and SHDC for permission to collect in Hall Place.

We especially thank J&M Auto Services, Chestnut Avenue, for helping prepare Santa’s sleigh for his travels and the Bridge Farm Group, for providing us accessible, secure, warm and dry overnight storage for the sleigh between outings. It was a tremendous help again.

Last, but not least, President Sue thanks all members, friends and family who contributed to making this year’s collection a success.

Thank you once again, everyone, for your support. Santa wishes you all a happy, safe and healthy New Year and looks forward to seeing you next time.
