Melton test to start 2023 for Knights

Pinchbeck United are hoping to welcome back several players who’ve been injured as they return to action at Melton Town on Saturday.
The Knights have been without a game since a 4-1 loss at home to Sleaford Town on December 21.
They arranged a mid-Christmas friendly with Wyberton to make up for the lack of action and with the FA Vase tie at Congleton a week on Saturday in mind too.
The 1-1 draw in which Avi Viera levelled for Pinchbeck, also saw the return of Spencer Weir-Daley, Dan Worthington and Joe Melson.
On Saturday they’re back in United Counties League Premier Division action against second placed Melton Town.
“While a break has been good, going nearly three weeks without a competitive game is not good,” said manager Lewis Thorogood.
“Wyberton gave us a good physical test and allowed us to give minutes to returning players and some fringe players.
“Those that featured will be involved in some capacity at Melton but it’s about managing them.
“We need to get some points on the board as our form in the few weeks before Christmas was very poor.
“The focus is on Melton which is a difficult place to go and they definitely won’t want to be losing to us for a third time this season.”
