Wildlife focus of evening

Spalding Photographic Society is looking to put January in the picture with a special open evening.

On Wednesday, January 11, a special presentation on wildlife photography is being held by Andy Hayes.

It takes place at the Castle Outdoor Bowls Pavilion, Albion Street, Spalding PE11 2AJ at 7.30pm.

The club’s treasurer Bruce Hayes said: “After the excitement of the festive season, January is often a cold, dark and boring month for most people.

“To brighten up the month SPS is holding an open evening on Wednesday.

“The meeting will be a presentation of wildlife photography by my brother Andy Hayes showcasing his travels to Kenya, India, Europe and Scotland.

“Admission is free and refreshments will be provided.

“Our late father was seconded from the Royal Air Force to the Kenya Air Force from 1965 to 1967 as an instructor and our family was based in Nairobi.

“This enabled us to widely explore the country and see the wildlife in their natural surroundings.

“This led to our family developing a life long interest in wildlife and conservation.
