Tigers Social Club in Holbeach has “substantial” money issues

Serious financial problems at Tigers Social Club in Holbeach are being looked into.

It is understood that the club, based at Carter’s Park, has run up big debts.

Holbeach United Football Club is linked with the social club, although is run as a separate entity.
Football club chairman Dave Dougill said the exact amount of money in question is “unknown but substantial”.

The Tigers Social Club committee resigned en bloc at a recent meeting and a new one has not been formed.
In the meantime, three members of the football club committee – Mr Dougill, Des Brown and Paddy Plaice – plus former social club vice-chairman Kay Piccaver are looking into the predicament.

Mr Dougill said: “We are looking at what can be done to keep it trading.”
He added: “There are rumours going around town that the problem has been solved – the problem has not been solved.”

Mr Dougill stressed that the football club, which runs many adult and junior teams, would remain unaffected by the situation.
He said: “This is about the social club – it does not affect the football club in any way, shape or form.
“I don’t see why it should because we have separate committees and separate accounts.”
