Mum of two ‘taken too soon’

The family of a 44-year-old woman who died at the scene of a collision on a Spalding road have thanked those that tried to save the life of the ‘loving and caring’ mother of two.

Joanna Zacharkiewicz has been named locally as the woman who died in Halmer Gate, Spalding, shortly after 5pm on Thursday, August 18.

Lincolnshire Police say investigations are still ongoing following a two-vehicle collision between a silver Mercedes-Benz and a white Volkswagen Transporter.

But Joanna’s sister Magdalena Bona says the family have been told by the coroner she died of natural causes after the driver of the van spotted her unconscious at the wheel.

The family wanted to thank him and others who performed CPR on Joanna in an attempt to save her.

Magdalena, who also lives in Spalding, described her as a loving and caring mother of a 14 and 11-year-old, wife, sister and friend who was driving home from work as a carer with Puffins when the incident happened.

The scene as pictured by Nigel Chapman.

She said: “She left unexpectedly, leaving a great sadness, a goodbye for which no one was ready. In this world no one is late, but some leave too early.

“We don’t have words to say how much we miss her.

“It’s a huge loss for our family and friends. She’s been taken way too soon.

“Thank you to the van driver and other driver who stopped to help and give CPR and the ambulance crews.

“I’ve been overwhelmed with the love and support we’ve been sent.

“My sister spent the last five years working in a care provider and I’ve been inundated with messages from those she worked with “

Magdalena has also set up a Go Fund Me page to raise funds for the funeral costs.

“After unspeakable and unexpected tragedy we wish to raise funds to cover the cost of funeral arrangements, the transport of Joanna to Poland and help with funds for her children,” the page states.

“She received help quickly and they did the best that they could to save my sister’s life.

“Unfortunately, she passed away on the road.

“We lost our beautiful angel, mother of two children aged 14 and 11, sister, wife, great friend and co-worker.

“Joanna was lovely, funny, hardworking and a straight-forward person.

“Her children meant the world to her and she raised them while she worked in care services.

“She always found time for anyone who needed help and our life never will be the same.

“Absolutely anything helps and we appreciate all the love and support from everyone that reached out so far.

“Thank you all.”
