Rolling back the years for GP surgery reunion

Former staff at a Spalding GP practice held a reunion at the weekend.

The High Street Surgery closed its doors on November 9, 1996 to relocate to the then newly-built Munro Medical Centre.

Some 26 years later, former doctors, nurses and support staff were reunited at Woodlands Hotel in Spalding.

It was organised by Michelle Smith (former dispenser), Mary Barnes (secretary), Deb Herd (deputy practice manager) and Sarah Wiscombe (practice nurse).

There was a nostalgic display of memorabilia and pictures for the reunited team.

Former GP partners, Dr Alex Walton, Dr Kieron Wiscombe and Dr Catherine Hamblin were joined by former colleagues for the event.

Former senior partner Dr Walton gave a speech on the history of the former practice alongside its achievements over many years of serving the town and surrounding villages.

Enid Andrew was the longest serving member of staff who started in 1953 and worked for the surgery until 1994.
