Thorogood keeps his feet on the ground as Pinchbeck’s impressive form continues at Mansfield

AFC Mansfield 0 Pinchbeck United 2

Pinchbeck United’s impressive form continued as they picked up their first away win of the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division North season by seeing off AFC Mansfield 2-0 on Saturday.

Strikes from Andre Williams and Harry Peasgood in each half secured a 2-0 triumph for the Knights at Forest Town Arena, making it three wins on the spin in all competitions.

Boss Lewis Thorogood felt that his side rode on a wave of confidence and momentum en-route to their victory in a game he admitted was ‘not one for the purist’.

“It was a very hot day and that was a leveller,” said the Knights chief. “They actually tried to get the game moved to a midweek, but we took our chances with the weather.

“I think we turned up with a lot of momentum after our recent results and the confidence was flowing.

“It wasn’t the best of games in the heat and on a very dusty pitch, but we were effective and deserved our win.

“The recent form has been great, but I’m not about to get too carried away.

“This is a long season and nothing gets decided after a few games.

“Come December, when it’s freezing cold and pouring with rain, if we’re still sitting pretty in the table then perhaps I’ll read more into it.

“For me, the hard work on and off the pitch is paying off and we’re very pleased with the start we’ve made.”

Knights: Smith, Stevens, Millar, Spafford, Simpson, Robson, Williams (Melson 84), Peasgood, Weir-Daley (Vieira 64), Johnson (Parsons 68), Foster (Wiles 76).

Attendance: 45.
