Christine and The Queen’s houses

A dolls’ house lovingly created for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee has been brought out again to raise money for two good causes.

Creator Christine ‘Kit’ Meggitt, of St Thomas’s Road in Spalding, has been building and collecting dolls’ homes and their furniture for around 30 years.

To celebrate the more recent Platinum Jubilee she’s been showing the stately home she created at local fairs including the recent Crowland and Thorney 1940s event.

She managed to raise £84 for the fund to restore the Buffalo amphibious landing craft which was pulled out of the ground after being put in to stop the 1974 flood in Crowland.

There was also £75 raised for Parkinson’s UK at other showings.

Christine said: “We were really pleased and people were delighted to see the dolls’ house.”
