Event marks 75 years since flood

A historic vehicle pulled from the Crowland mud will get its second public outing this weekend at a special event to mark flooding in the area.

The Buffalo 47 landing craft was put in the earth as part of a dam to halt the 1947 flood.

But in 2021 it was pulled out of the field by Crowland farmer Daniel Abbott.

Since then, he and a group of volunteers have painstakingly renovated it.

And now, to mark the 75th anniversary of the event, a 1940s themed weekend celebration is being held in Thorney, Cambridgeshire.

As well as the tank, from 10am Saturday and Sunday, June 25 and 26, a host of stalls, 40s themed entertainment and food and drinks on offer.

There’s also going to be a fantastic fly-by courtesy of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight team.

Tickets are £12 and available from http://www.crowlandbuffalo.org/
