Veteran’s medals stolen in raid

The war memorabilia of a Dunkirk and Burma war veteran is being sought after it was stolen from a Spalding home.

The family of John Corcoran have been devastated after his medals and service books were taken from a home on The Parkway.

Between 11am and 12pm, thieves broke in by smashing the glass on the backdoor of the property, Jon’s granddaughter Lesa Jeffrey said.

“The medals are so special and they’ve taken his service book too,” she continued.

The Burma Star, awarded to those who fought in Burma, was among the items stolen.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police, said: “We are investigating a burglary at an address in Parkway, Spalding. It was reported to us at 12.04pm on May 31.

“An unknown offender entered the property and stole jewellery.

“Anyone with any information should call us on 101 quoting incident 173 of May 31.”
