Festival to return for Easter break

The South Holland Outdoor Festival will return to the district for the Easter holidays.

The series of events across the area is run by the district council’s Communities team and proved a hit last summer.

Now South Holland District Council is bringing the events to the Easter holidays from Saturday, April 2 until Sunday, April 10.

A spokesman for South Holland District Council said: “The South Holland Outdoor Festival will return to the district for the Easter holidays, offering a series of great, free events and activities to get involved with.

“There will be a wide variety of things to take part in, including guided walks, park runs, ‘come and try’ taster sessions, walking football and much more.”

South Holland District Council’s Communities team has organised the festival, with local community organisations, groups, clubs and businesses taking part.

Opportunities will include a Nature Lab day at Ayscoughfee Gardens, adult walking football and hockey tasters, learning to play a brass instrument with Holbeach Town Band, and Heritage and Discovery trails through Spalding and Holbeach town centres.

There will also be special events including the talent pathway Skate Jams, planned for the skate parks in Crowland, Spalding and Donington. Skaters of all ages and abilities will be able to take part, receive coaching and workshop their skills, before putting it to the test in a series of competitions.

Equipment such as skateboards, scooters, helmets and pads can all be provided.

Coun Gary Taylor, portfolio holder for communities and facilities, said: “As the weather begins to improve and spring seems to be in the air, it feels like the perfect time for this festival of events to encourage people to give some new activities a try and find their next hobby or sport.

“There really is something for everyone to have a go at, from instruments to footballs, to skateboards, and I would encourage people to make the most of these free opportunities to explore, and get together with others and as a family.

“Thank you to all the organisations and groups across the district who have opened their doors for people to get involved and take part in this fantastic festival.”
